In brief: It’s almost here. I hope everyone has had time to process the election of the least qualified man ever to run for POTUS because we’re about to inaugurate him. As I type this, he’s harassing Rep. John Lewis — Civil Rights HERO (look up “Selma” if you aren’t sure why that’s in all caps) — two days before MLK Day. This is going to be a long four years, y’all.
Two of my good friends are on to talk about what’s coming. Zach Roberts has covered protests and political events all over the country for years; he shares what it was like covering Trump and gives advice for those preparing to participate in actions and civil disobedience for the first time. Lily Bolourian got started in campaigning with Obama’s primary bid and has spent the past eight years fighting for all of our rights. She talks about what a Trump presidency could mean for her health and why she’s launching her own show. Spoiler: it’s because we need her unapologetic, intersectional feminist voice and because her community is underrepresented (at best).
