In brief: I have been wanting to dive into this topic since I started the show. Author and editor-in-chief at Truthout Maya Schenwar was kind enough to do an extended, 101/201 level primer on prison abolition. We discussed what it means to be a prison abolitionist, dispelled myths, and went into some alternatives to our policing system. Spoiler tidbit: our current prison system was actually created in a reform effort.
