Note: This is what I do now; I’m an activist full-time. I’m completely committed to changing the face of clinic access in this country. If you can, consider supporting my work so I can do more of it by clicking HERE and making a one-time or recurring (just click the box) contribution. All the funding goes to equipment, travel to other conferences/clinics/meetings with pro-choice legislators/training new escort programs and supplies. Thank you!
Oh, hey! I was on the TV machine! Abby Martin, host of RT’s Breaking the Set, invited me on to talk about clinic closures, picketing, escorting and the political implications of the current climate surrounding abortion and reproductive healthcare. She was gracious and I’ll happily return any time she asks.
My segment starts around 20:20, but her show is fantastic and I recommend the full 30 minutes. She’s an independent voice who advocates regularly for ending the death penalty (a topic she regularly has my friend Lee Camp on to discuss: “Everything You Know About the Death Penalty is Wrong”), against the oligarchy taking over our “democracy” and on halting climate change. My animal rights/vegan friends and readers will especially appreciate the opening segment on this show.
Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks also graciously had me on this week. She asked some great questions and I was able to emphasize the importance of taking a morality stand when talking about and advocating for reproductive rights. When we let extremists dictate the morality of our society, people die attempting to end unwanted pregnancies because of a lack of access to basic healthcare and zero support for parents who want to raise family.
Apologies for audio/video quality. My apartment in Brooklyn doesn’t have studio quality lighting because activist ‘salary.’ We filmed this at night via Skype, so you’ll just have to hear the words and ignore my lack of, well, equipment. I’m working on it.
You can see Breaking the Set live daily at 6pm & 9:30pmEST online at RT USA. The Young Turks with Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur streams and posts via YouTube; subscribe to their channels: TYT Interviews and The Young Turks.
