Excerpts from my feeds
A word…
This time of year I think about love; probably most people do. But I tend to think about it as a social construct and what “kinds” of love are considered legitimate and worthy in our culture. As someone who doesn’t pair bond in the hetero-normative manner, people think my life is “less than” or not as filled with joy and love. On the contrary. My every day is overflowing with both.
And so, a repost of Love, my take.

If you missed my live chat at Tawkers “So, are Iran and the US Getting Along Now?” with Michael Brooks, click and read the transcript!
My next chat is with the badass Leah Torres on Tuesday at 5:30EST: How Much Sex Do Women Want?” We’re breaking down the bogus social constructs around female sexuality. Check out the FB event page for all the info and join us for the discussion!
My new activism segment for The Best of the Left Podcast Safe Schools Improvement Act is EXTREMELY important. LGBT students are bullied and harassed at a rate of more than 8 out of 10. Transgender kids are beaten and harassed at an even more alarming rate. Click, support and pass on from the info in the “About” tab.

And it was responded to via #RacismEndedWhen:
Oh and #RacismEndedWhen I had to put together a tumblr for all the racist ish Tea Party trolls emailed/tweeted me http://t.co/M766lzvYe1

Which was follow by an attempt to fix it:
Racism's back. RT @GOP: Previous tweet should have read "Today we remember Rosa Parks' bold stand and her role in fighting to end racism.

I love Sally Kohn more all the time. I couldn’t agree with everything in this piece for The Daily Beast any more. Read and follow her: The GOP’s Late-Term Abortion Strategy Is Backfiring. You’re welcome.

Really? Chaining yourself to the clinic in 2013?
Tension levels rising at abortion protests outside Englewood clinic
But it’s probably totally fine. Probably. The latest from DeSmog Blog:

Might as well make it official…

Just stop it. Seriously.

Things are happening with LIBOR. If that sentence doesn’t mean anything to you, Lee Camp catches you up from last year:
You have to be listening to Inquiring Minds if you aren’t already. This episode has the awesome climate researcher Michael Mann discussing how he got pulled into politics kicking and screaming:

Be warned, followers: I tweet here in a tone that is insufficiently apologetic and obsequious, almost like I have confidence in my opinion.

I wish I thought I could write eloquently on such a complex life. Certainly, even if some of the persona that has been created is a construct, for people to have a figure to look up to and use as inspiration the way people in struggle have used Mandela, than it is a life that has left the world a better place than when they came into it.
